The Luminous Mysteries... Mysteries of Light

(Said on Thursdays throughout the year)

First Luminous Mystery

First Luminous Mystery
The Baptism of Jesus

"I am the voice of one crying in the desert, make straight the way of the Lord."
"One mightier than I is coming after me."
"I have baptized you with water, He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit." John is baptizing in the Jordan proclaiming a baptism of repentance.

Seeing Jesus, John exclaims: "Behold the Lamb of God." And a voice came from the heavens, saying, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased."

The Spirit descends upon Jesus in the form of a dove. In this heavenly manifestation is instituted the sacrament of baptism. The divine Trinity is manifested: the voice of the Father is heard as the Spirit descends upon the Son.

 Matthew 3:16-17

Second Luminous Mystery
The Wedding at Cana

Jesus, His Mother and disciples were invited to a wedding in Cana. During the wedding feast the wine ran short. Mary turned to Jesus: "They have no wine." Jesus replied: "What would you have me do? My hour has not yet come.

Jesus listed to His Mother, the Blessed Mother and fulfilled His first miracle.

Jesus did this as the beginning of his signs in Cana in Galilee and so revealed his glory, and his disciples began to believe in him.

John 2:11

Jesus came to Galilee proclaiming the gospel of God: "This is the time of fulfillment. The kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel."

Fourth Luminous Mystery

Fourth Luminous Mystery
The Transfiguration of Jesus

Jesus took Peter, James and John up a high mountain to pray.

Jesus was transfigured before them. And he was transfigured before them; his face shone like the sun and his clothes became white as light.

Moses and Elias (representing the Law and the prophets of the Old Testament) were conversing with Jesus about His passion.

From a cloud came a voice: "This is my beloved Son, listen to Him."

Matthew 17:1-3

Fifth Luminous Mystery

Fifth Luminous Mystery
The Last Supper, the Holy Eucharist

While they were eating, Jesus took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and giving it to his disciples said, "Take and eat; this is my body." Then he took a cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you, for this is my blood of the covenant, which will be shed on behalf of many for the forgiveness of sins.

The Holy Eucharist is the proof of God, God the Father.

God comes among all His children in two ways: the Cross and the Eucharist. The Eucharist is only in the Roman Catholic Church…The One True Church and the one true Faith.
