Saint Pio was born in Pietrelcina, Italy, on 25 May
1887.
His family was a hardworking farming family.
He was tutored privately until his entry into the Capuchin Friars
at the age of 15. He was ordained a priest in 1910.
His whole life was marked by
long hours of prayer
and continue austerity. His letters to his spiritual directors reveal the suffering,
physical and spiritual, which accompanied
him through out his entire life.
He had a very deep union with
God the Father.

Saint Pio had a burning love for the Blessed Eucharist
and our Blessed Lady... The Lady of the Rosary.
On 20 September 1918 Stigmata:
The five wounds of our Lord's Passion appeared on his body.
He was the first stigmatized priest in the history of the Church. This stigmata would continued for fifty years, until the end of his life.
St. Padre Pio was said to have had the gift of reading souls, the ability to bilocate (according to eyewitness accounts), among other supernatural phenomena. He was said to communicate with angels and worked favors and healings before they were requested of him.
St. Padre Pio
died at Giovanni Rotondo, Italy,
on 23 September 1968.
His body after the funeral was entombed in the crypt of
Our Lady of Grace Church.
On 16 June 2002 Pope
John Paul II declared Padre Pio Saint

Prayer to obtain the Glorification of Padre Pio
O Jesus,
full of grace and charity, victim for sinners, so impelled by love for us that you willed to die on
the cross, I humbly beseech you to glorify in heaven and on earth the
Servant of God, Padre Pio of Pietrelcina, who generously participated in your suffering, who loved you
so much and laboured so faithfully for the glory of your heavenly Father
and for the good of souls.
With confidence I beseech
you to grant me, through his intercession, the grace of... (Make your request) which I
ardently desire.
Amen.
