The Story of Our Lady of Guadalupe

Our Lady of Guadalupe is a title given to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Blessed Virgin Mother appeared from December 9-13, 1531, to a Mexican peon, Juan Diego.
This apparition took place at Tepeyac, a low hill northeast of Mexico City.
Juan Diego a convert, was an Aztec Indian.  When the Blessed Mother appeared to Juan Diego, Our Lady was dressed as an Aztec princess, speaking the Aztec language.

Our Lady on Saturday, December 9, 1531, told Juan Diego she was the Immaculate Virgin Mother of God and that she wanted a church in her honor be built on that spot.  Juan Diego told the Bishop Fray Juan de Zumarraga of Mexico City about the Blessed Mother Virgin.
Bishop Fray Juan de Zumarraga requested proof of her presence.

The events that took place on December 12, 1531:

On December 12, 1531 Juan Diego left his home early that day to summon a priest in Tlateloloco who could care for his Uncle Juan Bernardino who was very seriously ill.
Our Lady of Guadalupe appeared to Juan Diego.

Our Lady of Guadalupe on December 12, 1531 said to Juan Diego:
"Hear me and understand well, my littlest son, that nothing should frighten or grieve you.
Let not your heart be disturbed.
Do not fear that sickness, not any other sickness or anguish.
Am I not here, who am your Mother?
Are you not under my shadow and protection?  Am I not the source of your joy?
Are you not happy within my fold and under my arms?  What else do you wish?"

The Blessed Virgin Mother on December 12, 1531 assured Juan Diego that his Uncle Juan Bernardino was already cured.  Even at that same moment, while the Blessed Virgin Mother was assuring Juan Diego about his Uncle being cured.  The Blessed Mother was appearing at that very same time to the dying Uncle and not only restored his health but told, identified herself to Juan Diego Uncle Juan Bernardino as "Holy Mary of Guadalupe."

Holy Mary of Guadalupe on December 12, 1531 instructed Juan Diego to pick some roses which was blooming miraculously in the winter.  The Blessed Virgin Mother arranged the bouquet of roses in his cloak.  Juan Diego brought the roses wrapped in his cloak to the Bishop Fray Juan de Zumarraga of Mexico City.  When the roses were poured out, an imprint of her likeness of the Blessed Virgin of Guadalupe was found on the inside of the cloak.

The Blessed Virgin of Guadalupe appeared on the cloak as a mestiza, standing on the moon in front of the sun, and dressed in a mantle covered, spoored by the stars.
